St George’s Village was pleased to once again host the boys and girls from COACH for our annual Christmas celebration. This event forms part of a meaningful partnership between St George’s Village and COACH, reflecting a shared commitment to care, connection, and community.
The relationship between the two organisations has its roots in history. St George’s Home for Boys was founded in 1915 to support children affected by World War I and later became part of COACH (the Coalition of Anglican Children’s Homes). Today, that legacy continues through active engagement between St George’s Village and the children supported by COACH.
From the moment the children arrived, their excitement set the tone for the day. The programme included games, singing, and shared meals, with the children enjoying chicken strips and chips for lunch before lining up for the ice cream truck. Each child also received a gift bag.
A highlight of the day was the introduction of themed activity stations set up around the Village. Teams moved between stations, completing tasks and answering questions along the way. In total, 29 children and 43 Villagers took part, supported by others who assisted with planning and coordination.
Favourite stations included icing cupcakes, bean bag tossing, and putting. Each child also had their photo taken and received a printed copy as part of their gift.
The celebration concluded with smiles all round, closing another Christmas gathering that continues to strengthen the connection between St George’s Village and the COACH community.
