Living Options
The village caters to both Independent as well as Care Centre Living
Independent Living
Perfect for active seniors who can manage their daily activities without assistance. Live independently, surrounded by friends and the comforts of a safe, secure community.
Our Cottages
Operational management at St George’s Village is expertly handled by St George’s Village Management Association NPC.
Our Scheme
Our scheme is fully developed, with property free from any bonds, and registered under the Johannesburg Diocesan Trustees for St George’s Home for Boys (COACH). Grace Village Management (Pty) Ltd oversees life rights sales and ensures the property is well-maintained.
Life Rights
Life Rights for our cottages are valid for the occupant's lifetime and that of their surviving spouse. Should the surviving spouse pass away or the Life Rights be surrendered upon moving to the Care Centre, 75% of the original purchase price is refunded.
Each of our cottages, while similar, has its own unique personality and comes with modern luxuries such as fibre internet.
LIFE RIGHTS EXPLAINED
What is a Life Right?
A Life Right is a widely practiced and well recognised retirement housing model worldwide.
A Life Right means that you are buying the right to live in a unit – usually with your spouse or partner – for the rest of your lives, giving security of tenure for life.
Why Life Rights?
Over the years, Life Rights have allowed residents to purchase reasonably priced, housing with affordable levies.
Financial Benefits:
- No transfer fees
- No registration fees
- No sales commission
- No VAT
- You only insure household contents
The Process
Cottage applications, together with the payment of a non-refundable deposit of R2, 500-00, may be submitted by persons between ages of 55 and 75 years only.
Life Rights will be granted to applicants over the age of 60 (Terms and conditions apply).
Fifteen percent of the value of the purchase price of the Life Right must be deposited on signature of the contract.
The balance is due on date of occupation or 90 days from the date of concluding the contract, whichever comes first.
Cottages become available from time to time. They are suitable for persons who are able to care for themselves.
The purchase price of Life Rights for Cottages varies, depending on the size of the Cottage (ranging R1.6m – R3.6m). Monthly levies for the Cottages vary as well. A once-off new Villager levy is required once the contract is signed and finalised.
Our Care Centre
Mid Care rooms, as part of the Care Centre, consist of a large room with a private en-suite bathroom and a kitchenette.
They are suitable mainly for single persons, but we can accommodate a limited number of couples depending on availability and the size of the room. Meals, domestic services and laundry services are provided. Residents in Mid Care are expected to furnish the room to their own requirements.
Frail care rooms, as part of the Care Centre, consist of a room and private en suite bathroom. They are suitable mainly for single persons who require 24 hour care, meals, domestic services and laundry.
